“Regionals 16.1”

This event begins with the athlete on the starting mat. At the sound of the beep, the athlete will move forward to the barbell and perform 10 snatches. Once the 10 snatches are completed, they will roll the bar forward to the next station, add weight, then perform 8 snatches. At each subsequent station the reps will decrease while the load increases. Each station will also have a cut-off time by which all the reps must be completed in order to proceed forward. Once an athlete has completed all the required reps for a given load, they may immediately advance and do not need to wait for the clock before moving to the next station. Time stops when the athlete reaches the finish mat.

Athletes will use one barbell for the first 3 stations, adding weight each time they move it forward, and will then move to a second preloaded barbell that they will use for stations 4 and 5.

If the athlete is cut off by the time cap, the score it the total number of reps completed up to that point.

The forst of 7 total workouts for the 2016 CrossFit Games Regionals (aka: "Regionals 16.1", presented by Gatorz) was announced on May 2, 2016. Athletes were to perform it immediately before "Regionals 16.1."

Regionals are the second stage of the CrossFit Games, following The Open, where the fittest athletes and teams in each region competed to earn their place in the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games.
