2020 CrossFit Open WOD #2
- AMRAP in 20 minutes
- 4 Dumbbell Thrusters (2x50/35 lb)
- 6 Toes-to-Bar
- 24 Double-Unders
This workout begins with the dumbbells on the floor and the athlete standing tall. After the call of “3, 2, 1 … go,” the athlete may begin performing thrusters. After 4 reps of thrusters are completed, the athlete will advance to a pull-up bar to perform toes-to-bars. After 6 reps of toes-to-bars are completed, the athlete will move to a jump rope and complete 24 double-unders before returning to the thrusters for the next round.
The athlete’s score will be the total number of repetitions completed before the 20-minute time cap. There is no tiebreaker for this workout.

Several elite athletes in different parts of the world attempted the workout live on camera immediately after it was announced - including two head-to-head performances by Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault (score: 928 reps (27 rounds + 10 reps)) vs. Carolyne Prevost (830 reps (24+14)) and Matt McLeod (899 reps (26+15)) vs. Khan Porter (857 reps (25+7)).
In a breathless post-workout video posted to his Instagram, Director of the Games Dave Castro @thedavecastro explained that 20.2 was inspired by the classic 'Girl' "Cindy" (20 minutes of pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats).
As Dave notes, judging "Cindy" would have been difficult under CrossFit Open conditions, so this was an opportunity to vary the movements and introduce the thruster into the 5-week Open competition early.
As the largest participatory sporting event in the world, the CrossFit Open is an opportunity for athletes of all levels - from beginner to elite - to compete and test their fitness. Top finishers from each country earn an invitation to the 2020 CrossFit Games.
