The 2019 CrossFit Games championships were held August 1-4, at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wisconsin. 2019 marked the 13th year of The CrossFit Games and also the third year the championships were hosted by Madison. Individual athletes performed 12 workouts (counting the penultimate “Ringer 1 & Ringer 2” as two) over the course of the weekend.
New in 2019 was an overhaul of the qualification process, resulting in a record 148 men and 134 women qualifying and registering to compete.
Due to the large number of athletes, the 2019 Games featured an elimination format, with each subsequent workout reducing the number of athletes that moved on to later workouts.
At the end of the 2019 Games, Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey were each crowned Fittest Man and Fittest Woman on Earth, respectively. Fraser and Toomey both also placed first in the 2018 CrossFit Games.
