The 2016 CrossFit Games Championships were the final stage of the tenth annual CrossFit Games and were held on July 19–24, 2016 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California and on a ranch in Aromas, California. Individual athletes performed 15 workouts over the course of the weekend.
This was the last year that the CrossFit Games were held at the StubHub Center. The CrossFit Games have been held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin since 2017.
The fifteenth workout of the 2016 CrossFit Games was noteworthy. The event featured the return appearance of the peg board ascents that premiered one year earlier in the 2015 CrossFit Games in a workout called “Pedal to the Medal 1.” Many competitors failed to complete the peg board ascents in the previous year, so they gave the athletes another chance at it in a workout called “Redemption.”
The men’s competition was won by Mathew Fraser, the women’s by Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir, and the Affiliate Cup was awarded to CrossFit Mayhem Freedom.
