The 2010 CrossFit Games Championships were the final stage of the fourth annual CrossFit Games and were held on July 16–18, 2010, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. A couplet of ring muscle-ups and squat snatches dedicated to Amanda Miller kicked off the competition on July 16, 2010.
This was the first year at this new venue. From inception until 2010, the CrossFit Games were hosted at the Aromas Ranch.
The most noteworthy moment of the 2010 CrossFit Games was Rich Froning’s battle with the rope. Froning (who would go on to win the Games in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014) had a lead going into the final event of the 2010 Games, but had not learned how to use his feet in rope climbs, and relinquished the top spot to Holmberg.
This was also the first time that regional qualifiers were required for all games participants including individuals, affiliate teams, and masters. To qualify for regional competitions individual athletes had to compete in local sectionals, a precursor to the online CrossFit Open introduced the following year.
The men’s competition was won by Graham Holmberg and the women’s by Kristan Clever. CrossFit Fort Vancouver won the Affiliate Cup Trophy.
