  • Buy-Out: 30 Kettlebell Swings (53/35 lb)

With a running clock, as fast as possible perform the prescribed work. Athlete must complete the buy-in of 30 Kettlebell Swings before moving on to the 20 Flightss of Stairs (1 story up and down = 1 flight) with Weight Vest, 20 V-Ups, 20 Russian Twists, and 20 Sit-Ups. To complete the workout, perform the buy-out of 30 Kettlebell Swings.

Score is the time on the clock when the buy-out is completed.

Background: This workout is dedicated to 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department, Firefighter Thomas Nye, who died after battling a fire on February 27, 2019.

Nye helped extinguish a chimney fire on Point Road on February 26, 2019 and then returned home. He collapsed early morning the next day after suffering what is believed to be a cardiac incident. He was pronounced dead at Tobey Hospital.

Firefighter Nye was married for 53 years, had two adult sons, five grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. He was a Vietnam veteran and worked as an auto mechanic.

The workout was designed by a fellow firefighter Lt. Kara Judd @st.florianfitness. It is a part of Line of Duty Death (LODD) honor workouts for firefighters who died of cardiac causes.
