About the wod
Background: This memorial workout is dedicated to Clinton Andrew Hutson Tebbs who tragically drowned after jumping off a boat on July 27, 2019.
Clinton, a U.S. Navy veteran, was a dedicated CrossFit athlete of CrossFit Kilo II @crossfitkilo2 (Iowa, USA).
We first found this workout posted by CrossFit Burleson @crossfitburleson (Burleson, Texas, USA) and we later confirmed it was designed by Owner and Head Coach of CrossFit Kilo II, Austin Nedelcoff.
In an email with WODwell, Austin shared the following story of the rep scheme:
“So one day this past spring we had “Grace” programmed and Clinton came in all excited and when it was his turn to go with the fellas he came out real fast and was on an incredible pace. He was going to beat his old time and finish around 1:20ish. Many of us were counting the reps in our head and he was at 26 reps unbroken when he dropped the bar and looked around very exhausted thinking he was done and we were like no go, go you’re at 26. He just waved his hand at us and said I’m good hahahaha. He was so spent he called it good at 26 reps.
So part one of Tebbs was 26 clean and jerks for time at 135/95. Rest 5 minutes, then go into the 26min AMRAP. 26ttb, 100m run, 26 burpees, 100m run, 26 pull ups, 100mrun
So 26 became a very memorable and funny number. Not long after he passed away. Some other movements that I included in the AMRAP were Toes to Bar because he was great at those and loved doing them. We also included 100m runs because of his sprint background and he was very quick all the way up to his passing. He was an animal at pull ups and burpees as well if the reps were just low enough to stay within his fast twitch threshold so I felt 26 was perfect.”
