About the wod
Background: This memorial workout is dedicated to Shell 77 crew, Air Force Capt. Mark T. Voss, Air Force Tech Sgt. Herman Mackey III, and Air Force Capt. Victoria A. Pinckney, who died in an air crash on May 3, 2013.
Shell 77 crew encountered a condition they had not realistically experienced in training, which left them with an unrecognized hazardous situation that was difficult to overcome. On May 3, 2013, a KC-135R, call sign Shell 77, crashed in the foothills of mountains located six miles of Chaldovar, Kyrgyz Republic. The Aircraft was assigned to the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell AFB, Kan., and was flown by members of the 92nd Refueling Wing at Fairchild AFB, WA. The crew was flying out of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing at the Transit Center at Manas.
This workout was designed by Matthew Sanchez @fitmattfatmatt while currently deployed and stationed at Fairchild. As a crew member from the same base, Fairchild AFB, who flew the same aircraft, KC-135R, Matt told WODwell he intended to honor the fallen with this workout.
