After doing CrossFit for several years Scott Serene was diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma multiforme (brain cancer) in March of 2014. Scott wanted to find a way to use his passion for CrossFit to raise awareness and give back to the brain cancer community.
From this the idea Kettlebells for Brain Cells (KB4BC) - a fundraising competition hosted at Hill Country CrossFit - was born. In March of 2015 Scott was diagnosed with a second brain tumor, this time on the brain stem and inoperable.
In June of 2015 Scott was able to see his dream become a reality when the inaugural Kettlebells for Brain Cells event took place. With an amazing show of support, Scott was able to raise $5,000 for American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).
