“Piece of Cake”
Memorial WOD for Jonathan Rodriguez and Rossana Freytes
- For Time (with a Partner)
- 5 Rope Climbs
- 1 mile Assault Bike
- Directly into, 19 Rounds of:
- 2 Muscle-Ups
- 1 Squat Clean (225/135 lb)
- 7 Strict Handstand Push-Ups
- 31 Double-Unders
- 24 Deadlifts (255/185 lb)
- 1 mile Assault Bike
With a running clock, as fast as possible perform the prescribed work with a partner. Switch as necessary. To begin, athletes must complete the buy-in of 5 Rope Climbs and 1 mile Air Bike. Directly after, perform 19 rounds of 2 Muscle-Ups, 1 Squat Clean, 7 Strict Handstand Push-Ups, and 31 Double-Unders. To complete the workout, accomplish the cash-out of 24 Deadlifts and 1 mile Air Bike.
Score is the time on the clock when the workout is completed.
About the wod
Background: This workout is dedicated to Jonathan Rodriguez (born May 19, 1983) and Rossana Perez Freytes (born January 24, 1983) who were both killed in an accident on July 31, 2020.
Jonathan was an avid fitness enthusiast and member of AFO CrossFit @afonation (Orlando, FL, USA) who created the memorial workout.
According to AFOnation’s Instagram post: “They both left this world after spending a beautiful vacation together after Jonathan had a great weekend competing with Triple J. They both touched many CrossFit communities and filled any room with their smiles and positivity. Jonathan loved fitness, he devoted his time to the sport of CrossFit and was starting to get Rosie hooked as well.”
“Jonathan stepped through our doors for the first time over two years ago (2018). Mostly lived in Puerto Rico but would stay in Orlando for 1-2 months at a time and made AFO his home gym away from home. Jonathan became a full time member in late 2019 and through quarantine ended up staying in Orlando. This is where he started a relationship with a lovely girl who he knew since middle school… We quickly knew that Jonathan was going to stay for good here in Orlando with Rosie and he was the happiest person in the world.”
