  • For Time
  • Buy-In: 1,000 meter Run
  • Then, 3 Rounds of:
  • 12 Thrusters (50/35 kg)
  • 87 Single-Unders
  • 18 Back Squats (50/35 kg)
  • 12 Kettlebell Swings (16 kg)
  • Cash-Out:
  • 2,000 meter Run
  • 5 Burpees

With a running clock, as fast as possible perform the prescribed work in the order written. Athlete must complete the buy-in of 1,000 meter Run before proceeding to 3 rounds of 12 Thrusters, 87 Single-Unders, 18 Back Squats, and 12 Kettlebell Swings (American style/overhead). To complete the workout, athlete must accomplish the cash-out of 2,000 meter Run and 5 Burpees.

Score is the time on the clock when the cash-out is completed.

Background: Dedicated to Perlin Soong by his coach after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer on May 29, 2019. Born Dec 1, 1987, Perlin passed away on Aug 25, 2020.

Perlin loved being active and was a member of many gyms, including Manurewa Recreation Centre, 4C Gym, CrossFit 275 @crossfit_275 (no longer open), and and regularly participated in community fitness challenges, boot camps, CrossFit competitions, Round the Bays, Tough Mudder, Auckland Half Marathon, Tough Guy Tough Gal, and O’Rock.

This workout was designed by Coach Tanz Pahulu of CrossFit 275 after his cancer diagnosis to show Perlin how much he meant to the community.

The significance of the rep scheme and movements are:
– 1 km Run + 12 Thrusters + 87 Single-Unders for Perlin’s birthday on 1/12/87
– 18 Back Squats + 12 Kettlebell Swings + 2 km Run and 5 Burpees for the date when Perlin arrived in New Zealand on 18/12/2005

Note: The coach chose to design the workout without a male/female scale for the Kettlebell Swings. Males and females both use the same load.
