"Fran Plus," 2021 Masters League Open WOD #2

  • 21-15-9-15-21 reps of:
  • Thrusters (40/30 kg)
  • Pull-Ups
  • Time Cap: 12 minutes

After the call of “3,2,1…GO,” the athlete will complete 21 Thrusters followed by 21 Pull-Ups, then back to 15 Thrusters followed by 15 Pull-Ups, then back to 9 Thrusters followed by 9 Pull-Ups, then back to 15 Thrusters followed by 15 Pull-Ups, then back to 21 Thrusters followed by 21 Pull-Ups. This workout is over when the athlete completes all the required work within the 12-minute time cap. 

Score is the time on the clock when the last round of the Pull-Ups is completed. If uncompleted within the Time cap, the athlete’s score will be the number of reps completed.

Movement Standards

Thruster: With every rep, the athlete’s hip must pass below the hip crease of the knee. The rep will be completed when the Barbell is overhead with knees, hips and arms locked out. 

Pull-Up: All reps must start in a dead hang, with chin coming above the Bar for every rep. Strict Pull-Ups, Kipping Pull-Ups and Butterfly Pull-Ups are allowed.

Background: “Fran Plus” (a.k.a.: “ML Open 21.2”) was the 2nd of 4 WODs for the 2021 Masters League Open competition. It is a variation of the classic benchmark, “Fran.”

The Masters League is the premier Functional Fitness competition in Australia that has been carefully crafted with athletes in mind to give everyone an opportunity to shine. There are three divisions: Soldier (Beginner), Warrior (Intermediate), and Hero (Rx). Each division will have the following age group: 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+.
