CrossFit Luminary Memorial WOD
- For Time (in a Team of 3)
- Buy-In: 800 meter Run
- Then, 12 Rounds of:
- 10 Synchronized Burpees
- 25 Double-Unders
- Cash-Out: 800 meter Run
With a running clock, as fast as possible perform the prescribed work in the order written. The team will run 800 meters together. After the run, they will do 12 rounds of synchronized Burpees and Double-Unders. Only one athlete can work at a time on the Double-Unders. After the 12 rounds, the team will run 800 meters together.
Score is the time on the clock when the last 800 meter run is completed.
About the wod
This workout was designed by CrossFit Luminary @cfluminary (Grand Rapids, MI, USA), where Mike was a member.
In a conversation with WODwell, one of Mike's best friends, Jeff Howard told us that this workout was based on a recent workout that Mike had topped the leaderboard on (a 12 mins workout, he scored 12 rounds of 10 burpees and 25 double-unders - hence the programming of the workout).
According to the CrossFit Luminary post for this workout: "Michael joined the CrossFit Luminary Family in January of 2020 serving the community as an intern coach and a fellow athlete. Michael celebrated coaching his first solo CrossFit class on February 28, 2020. Michael was an Eagle Scout and his mentality to serve will live on through his choice to be an organ donor. Michael was a professional frisbee player for Detroit Mechanix. Two of his teammates died with him in the crash."

The buy-in and cash-out of an 800-meter run is to reflect all the running in ultimate frisbee, a passion of his. The gym also set up a GoFundme for his family and his girlfriend, Sammy.
