- Tabata Back Squats (95/65 lb)
- Continue until 100 Back Squats are completed
Athlete may use a weight rack. Perform max back squats in 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Repeat until 100 back squats are completed.
About the wod
Background: We first found this “Michelle” benchmark WOD posted by CrossFit Mayhem (Cookeville, TN), as part 2 of a 3-part workout programmed for CrossFit Mayhem’s members on July 26, 2018.
According to a commenter on our Instagram post, “Michelle” was actually named for her. The commenter said that while she was a member of a Cookeville CrossFit gym at Tennessee Tech University, she ribbed her coach, 4-time CrossFit Games Individual champion Rich Froning, about the most recent workouts. She writes: “one day I came in and started complaining about how we never do legs all we do is arms. Well the next day “Michelle” was born. Needless to say everyone hated me after that workout. The second half of the workout [when it was programmed by Froning] is “Annie”. We have only done it one other time since the original.”
The workout has since been adopted by CrossFit gyms around the world, but not many know the story behind it.
