About the wod
This workout is dedicated to Jason Kortz who passed away on March 18, 2015, after sustaining injuries during a training accident in Perris, California.
Special Warfare Operator 3rd Class Jason Kortz, 29, was conducting parachute-jump training operations March 18, 2015, the Navy said in a news release. They opened an investigation to seek the cause of the accident.
Kortz had earned the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. He was assigned to Naval Special Warfare Group One, based in Coronado, Calif.
“Jason distinguished himself consistently throughout his career,” Capt. Todd Seniff, commodore of Naval Special Warfare Group One, said in the news release. “He was the epitome of the quiet professional in all facets of his life, and he leaves an inspiring legacy of natural tenacity and focused commitment for posterity.
“Losing such a promising special operator is a tragedy, not just for his family and the Naval Special Warfare community, but also for this nation, (which) needs men of such uncompromising character in these uncertain times.”
Kortz is survived by his wife, parents and brother.
A classmate of Jason’s, Blake Donnelly, created this workout in his honor. We first found the workout via Blake’s wife, Sami’s Instagram.
