2019 French Throwdown Individual Qualifier WOD #1

The athlete starts seated on the rower without touching the handle. The athlete can use a 2000m or 1500m countdown on the. rower. At, 3,2,1…go, the athlete starts rowing. When the athlete completes the required distance, he is allowed to stand up from the rower. He then performs the wall balls, making sure that the whole movement will appear on the video. He then moves to the gymnastic movement (ring muscle-ups or pull-ups). Your score is the time needed to complete the workout in the time cap. If the workout is not completed by the time cap, then your score is the number of reps completed. On the rower, 100 meters is 1 rep. Wall-Ball heights: 3 meter for men and 2.73 meter for women.

Movement Standards

Row: The monitor on the rower must be set to zero. The athlete or the judge may reset the monitor between each round. The athlete must stay seated on the rower until the monitor reads 2000m. The athlete may also set a fixed distance to complete on the rower and will need to be seated until the monitor shows 0.

Wall Ball Shot: In the wall ball shot, the medicine ball must be taken from the bottom of a squat, hip crease below the knees, and thrown to hit the specified target (3 meter for men and 2.73 meter for women). The center of the ball must hit the target at or above the specified target height. If the ball hits low or does not hit the wall, it is a ‘’no rep’’. If the ball drops to the ground from the top, it cannot be caught off the bounce to begin the next rep. The ball must settle on the ground before being picked up for the next rep.

Ring Muscle-Up: In the muscle-up, the athlete must begin with or pass through a hang below the rings, with the arms fully extended (with or without a false grip) and the feet off the ground. The heels may not rise above the height of the rings during the kip. The elbows must be fully locked out while in the support position above the rings. Kipping the muscle up is acceptable, but swings or rolls to support are not permitted. If consecutive kipping muscle-ups are performed, a change of direction below the rings is required.

For seven years, the CrossFit French Throwdown has operated as a community-based event aimed at uniting and celebrating the growth of CrossFit affiliates throughout France, which is currently home to nearly 500 CrossFit affiliates. In 2019, the CrossFit French Throwdown is one of the 15 CrossFit Games sanctional events. The top Male and Female from the Pro Individual division and the Top Team of 4 will head to Madison, WI in August to vie for Fittest on Earth.
