2019 French Throwdown Individual Qualifier WOD #1

  • Time Cap: 8 minutes

The athlete starts in front of his loaded bar without touching it. At 3,2,1… go, the athlete starts his set of thrusters and must perform at least one repetition. From there, he can move on to the next exercise whenever he wants. The clock stops once the athlete has performed a total of 45 repetitions of each exercise. Your time is your score if you finish the workout within the time cap. If the workout is not completed, your score is the number of repetitions performed in eight minutes. A male athlete must use a men’s bar.

Movement Standards

Thruster: This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of a front squat to full lockout overhead. The bar starts on the ground. No racks allowed. The hip crease must clearly pass below the top of the knees in the bottom position. A full squat clean into the thruster is allowed when the bar is taken from the floor. If the barbell is dropped from overhead, it must settle on the ground before the athlete picks it up for the next repetition. The barbell must come to a full lockout overhead, with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the middle of the athlete’s body.

Chest-to-Bar Pull-Up: This is a standard chest-to-bar pull up. Dead hang, kipping or butterfly chest to bars are allowed as long as all the requirements are met. The arms must be fully extended at the bottom with the feet off the ground. At the top, the chest must clearly come into contact with the bar below the collarbone.

Background: The French Throwdown Individual Qualifier workout #1 - a couplet sprint - was the first of four total workouts for this 2019 sanctioned CrossFit® competition.

For seven years, the CrossFit French Throwdown has operated as a community-based event aimed at uniting and celebrating the growth of CrossFit affiliates throughout France, which is currently home to nearly 500 CrossFit affiliates. In 2019, the CrossFit French Throwdown is one of the 15 CrossFit Games sanctional events. The top Male and Female from the Pro Individual division and the Top Team of 4 will head to Madison, WI in August to vie for Fittest on Earth.
