Movement Standard

For the Crunch, which is a partial Sit-Up, start by lying on the floor with the back flat on the ground. Bend the knees and keep feet flat on the ground. Place hands crossed on the chest. Lift the shoulders and upper back completely off the ground and crunch the abdominals such that the torso moves toward the knees while keeping the lower back planted to the ground. That’s one repetition.

Background: This tribute workout is dedicated to Lee Andrew Earnshaw, a 22 year British Army veteran, who was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 stomach cancer.

The WOD was designed by Lee himself to simulate a PT session at the all-arms paratrooper course (that Lee passed in 1997), and was shared with WODwell by Lee's friend Andy @big_andy_m.

This tribute will serve as an annual memorial to celebrate him and his final battle, and cement his legacy after he passes.

During his Army career, Lee was promoted to the highest enlisted rank and deployed on multiple operations around the world. In 2017 Lee decided to leave the Army to pursue a new career that enabled him to spend more time with his devoted wife and 3 wonderful children.

Friends and family set up a Go Fund Me page to help support him in his final weeks/months and his family beyond that.
