About the wod
We first found this WOD posted on Instagram by CrossFit 209 Sport @hip_crossfit209. We later discovered it was created by Gabe Subry @gsubry209, 3-time CrossFit Games competitor, Level-1 Seminar Staff, and owner of CrossFit 209 Sport (Stockton, CA, USA).
In an online exchange with Gabe, he told us that 2 of CrossFit 209 Sport's longtime members lost a combined total of five family members in the tragedy.
In solidarity with their loss, Gabe programmed "Dive 34" immediately, and CrossFit 209 performed the workout on Sept. 6; just four days after the tragedy.
As noted by Gabe, the 34 minutes and reps are for the victims and the five movements represent the five family members lost.
