  • 28 Weighted Box Step-Ups (2x50/35 lb, 24/20 in)
  • 20 Devil Presses (2x35/25 lb)
  • 1,000 meter Row

With a running clock, as fast as possible perform the prescribed work in the order written.

Score is the time on the clock when the last set of the 1,000 meter Row is completed.

Scaling Options

Scale the weights as needed. Athlete can also substitute 800 meter Run for the 1,000 meter Row.

Background: This memorial workout is dedicated to Firefighter/EMT Clinton “Tom” Showalter, Albemarle County Fire & Rescue, VA, who took his own life on April 28, 2020.

The workout was designed and submitted by Coach Rebecca Elza @_fighting_my_fat_ of CrossFit Backward Arrow @crossfitbackwardarrow (Abilene, TX, USA). It is written to honor him and any First Responder that is fighting with their own Mental Health.

In her submission, Rebecca noted that she was a former coworker of FF Showalter.

The intention of the WOD is to perform movements that a firefighter would do on his daily job. Coach Rebecca wanted it to be fast and furious and to go from 0-100, just like firefighters do. She shared, “I want it to be heavy and hard. People who have completed it are spent. I tell people to go as heavy as they can while being able to keep a steady pace. Especially on the Devils Press as they are a kicker near the end of the workout.

This workout is very near and dear to my heart and a lot of work went into creating it. “

The rep scheme signifies the date when Tom passed away.
