Athletes unable to perform the Rx movement can choose to perform front squats at 70/45 kg. Mixing up is not allowed.
The three qualifying workouts are based on the 3-minute on and 1-minute off template. The first part for time is the tie-breaker, the second part for points is the final score. For each workout, the athlete can choose his/her favorite movement out of 2 available versions (Rx and scaled) and declare it to the judge (mixing up the two movements is not allowed).
Rower: Monitor must be reset to zero before start. The dumper must be set at least to Level 2 (no Level 1).
Thruster: Each repetition must start with the barbell in the front rack position and end in full lockout above the head passing through the full squat position. In the bottom position, it is mandatory to cross the parallel (iliac crest lower than the knee line), while in the top position, you have to extend knees, hips, and arms with the barbell in control in line or slightly behind the midline of the body. The feet must be in line. In the first rep of each set, a cluster is allowed. Once the bottom position is reached, the movement to reach the final position must be continuous and fluid. Pauses or redips are not allowed.
Front Squat: This is a standard front squat with the barbell on the shoulders in the front rack position. The hip crease must be below the top of the knee at the bottom. The rep is complete when hips and knees are fully extended, and the bar is resting on the shoulders in the front rack position with the elbows in front of the bar.

Background: The CrossFit Italian Showdown Online Qualifier workout #3 was the last of three total workouts. The workout is a two-part for time calorie row and max reps thrusters.
The biggest community gathering in Europe – with over 8,000 people in 3 days, 288 affiliates from 23 countries and 1,000 competitors on site – is now a CrossFit, Inc. sanctioned event rewarding the male and female winners with the invitation to compete at the 2019 CrossFit Games.
The uniqueness of the CrossFit Italian Showdown lied in the fact that up to 1,500 competitors are admitted to the first day of Live event. Everybody can feel the energy of the arena, have fun and prove his/her fitness, no matter his/her age or skill level.
