Bradley Lowery lost his life on July 7, 2017, after battling neuroblastoma, a type of cancer in which he developed a large tumor that put pressure on his major organs and arteries. He was 6 years old.

Jermaine Defoe, an English professional footballer, created a special bond when Bradley led the Black Cats as the mascot (photo) to receive a round of applause during the fifth minute at the Stadium of Light at Everston in the Premier League.

Covered by the Dailymail, speaking after meeting his hero Defoe, Bradley told the Sunderland Echo: ‘This has been amazing. I got to meet Jermain Defoe, who’s my favourite and everyone said my name. Thank you, everyone.’

We first found this workout posted by CrossFit Sunderland (Sunderland, UK) on their Instagram in July, 2017 – the day after Bradley passed. The movements selected spell ‘B-R-A-D-L-E-Y,’ the rounds are for Bradley’s age (6). The reps represent the date of his death.

Bradley’s parents created the Bradley Lowery Foundation (bradleyloweryfoundation.com | @bradleysfight) to “raise funds and awareness to help and support other children, in memory of our son, Bradley Lowery.”
