  • 1 Mile Run

Logistics are important when considering running a workout like this during class. If you have more athletes than rowers, multiple waves will be necessary to make sure that there is no waiting around because all the machines are full. Staggering 8-10 minutes should help prevent this.

If unable to run, complete one of the following:
160/115 Calorie Schwinn Bike
115/80 Calorie Assault Bike
Replace Workout with 5k Row

We are familiar with splits on the rower, as they are right in front of our face the whole time. However, running spits are more difficult to track. For that reason, we have chosen to run 400 meters at a time during the mile run. This allows athletes to come inside and see where they are on the clock. Paces will be different based on the athlete, but the focus today will be to pick a goal pace for the runs and the row and not slow down. These paces will be slower than athletes true 2k and 2 miles run paces due to the cumulative work.

“Jerry” is a Hero WOD that honors Sgt. Major Jerry Dwayne Patton, 40, who died on 15 October 2008 during High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) training while assigned to Army USSOCOM preparing for deployment to Afghanistan. Jerry is survived by his wife Molly and his sons Chad, Cody, Chase and Connor.
