"Death by Triplet," Wodapalooza Online Challenge 2017, WOD 2

  • Rest until the next 2-minute mark

Every two minutes, on the minute athlete will attempt to complete the designated work within a two minute running clock. If the athlete completes all the required work within the 2:00 window, they rest the remainder of the 2:00. At minute 2:00, they have until minute 4:00 to complete another round. If they complete the round, they rest until minute 6:00. They’ll begin a new round at minute 6:00 and have until minute 8:00 to complete another complete round. This continues, with the athlete working to complete a full round under each two minute clock. If the athlete is unable to complete the entirety of the work in any allotted two minute round, their workout is over.

For the 2018 Wodapalooza online challenge, athletes were capped at 12 rounds with the tie-breaker being the time on the clock when they finished the 12th round (ie. 23:33.)

Background: Wodapalooza announced this workout, "WZA 2018 WOD #2" on September 21, 2017, as the second workout for individuals in their online challenge, the qualifier for the 2018 Wodapalooza Fitness Festival in Miami, FL. Shown here is the "Elite/Rx" version of the workout. There are other versions for other divisions, including "Intermediate/Scaled," "Masters" and "Youth."

The organizers describe the event as a way to “unite the community and provide an opportunity for us to test our fitness on a worldwide stage and to earn a spot to compete at the 2018 Wodapalooza Fitness Festival.” Standards shown here are for the Rx division (there are also Elite, Intermediate, Scaled and other divisions in the competition).

2018 is the Wodapalooza competition’s sixth year, growing from a local event in 2012 to attracting “over 25,000 spectators & nearly 1,500 athletes, representing 30 countries.” Their online challenge is the first step in qualifying for the Wodapalooza fitness festival.
