  • 2 rep max Thrusters (from the floor)
  • Rest 1 minute
  • Then, AMRAP in 8 minutes of:
  • 18 Alternating Dumbbell Farmer's Lunges (2x22.5/15 kg)
  • 14 Dumbbell Hang Cleans (2x22.5/15 kg)
  • 10 Dumbbell Push Presses (2x22.5/15 kg)

This workout consists of two parts. Part A is to establish a 2 rep max Thrusters. Athlete will have 3 attempts to lift the heaviest load of 2 Thrusters (“For Load“). Then rest 1 minute. After the rest, on an 8-minute clock, complete as many rounds and repetitions as possible (“AMRAP“) of the prescribed work in the order written.

There will be two scores for this event. Score A is the the heaviest load successfully lifted for the 2 rep max Thrusters. Score B is the total number of rounds and repetitions completed before the 8-minute clock is completed.

Movement Standards

Alternating Dumbbell Farmer’s Lunges: This will be a variation of the standard bodyweight Lunges wherein athlete will hold a Dumbbell on each hand in a Farmer’s Carry and perform alternating Lunges.

18 Alternating Dumbbell Farmer’s Lunges (2×17.5/12.5 kg)
14 Dumbbell Hang Cleans (2×17.5/12.5 kg)
10 Dumbbell Push Presses (2×17.5/12.5 kg)

Soldier
For Load
2 rep max Thrusters (from the floor)

Rest 1 minute

Then, AMRAP in 8 minutes of:
18 Alternating Dumbbell Farmer’s Lunges (2×15/10 kg)
14 Dumbbell Hang Cleans (2×15/10 kg)
10 Dumbbell Push Presses (2×15/10 kg)

Background: “Lift & Grip” (a.k.a.: “ML Queensland Invitational 21.2”) was the second of 3 WODs for the 2021 Masters League Queensland Invitational competition. 

The Masters League is the premier Functional Fitness competition in Australia that has been carefully crafted with athletes in mind to give everyone an opportunity to shine. There are three divisions: Soldier (Beginner), Warrior (Intermediate), and Hero (Rx). Each division will have the following age group: 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+.
